I recommend that everyone watch "Battle in Seattle". This movie was very inspirational to me. It showed me the power that we Americans have when we unite and stand up for a cause! There is no need for violence. We just need to let our voices be heard.

Doesn't burn you up that we were raised by a generation that taught us what to do to ensure we were successful in life, only to find out that there is no way to achieve what our parents achieved. It's not their fault, but I wouldn't have poured thousands of dollars into higher education had I know that at 46 years of age, I would be forced to become a collector, sitting on day in front of a computer with a headset. Your comments on the "Gen Y" article are right on. I'm in the same boat as you - a tail-end boomer (47 years old) struggling with a mortgage, trying to save for college for my kids, losing most of my retirement savings and dealing with long-term unemployment (going on 16 months now.) I harbor no illusions. I will not be able to attain the lifestyle my parents have now, one my dad worked years and years for.
Thanks for your clear, thoughtful and perceptive point-of-view.
Old remarks have turned into racist remarks over time example , "lets call a spade a spade" had nothing to do with race but a local judge used the term and because the defendant was black he was almost by the PC police. How about expressions like " shine on harvest moon"or" the jig is up,"None of theses statements were racist but you better not use them in the wrong company. Kindest Regards Zulu2
